Nandi Hills: is an ancient hill fortress located at a distance of 50 km from Bangalore and just 10 km from Chikkaballapur town in the Chikkaballapur district. The hills are nestled between the neighboring towns of Nandi, Muddenahalli, and Kanivenarayanapura. The Nandi hills have become a preferred tourist spot during summer. The Karnataka state horticulture department maintains a garden for the tourists.

Savanadurga: is located at a distance of 35 km west of Bangalore. The hill which rises to 1226 m above mean sea level is known for the temple and is also awarded for being first among the largest monolith hills in the world. The Arkavathi river passes nearby through the Thippagondanahalli reservoir and on towards Manchanabele dam.

Devarayana Durga: is usually a hill station near Tumkur is located at a distance of 70 km from Bangalore. The rocky hills situated at an altitude of 3940 feet and are surrounded by forest and the hilltops are dotted with some temples including the Yoganarasimha as well as the Bhoganarasimha temples.

Bheemeshwari: is located at a distance of 100 km from Bangalore. Bheemeshwari is really a great place for eco-tourism and is a natural habitat for the mahseer fish found in the waters of the Cavery. The island town of Shivanasamudra divides the river into twin waterfalls Gaganachukki and Bharachukki. The Bharachukki waterfalls is just few kilometers to the south-west of the Gaganachukki falls.

Mekedatu: is located at a distance of 90 km from Bangalore. 'Mekedatu' means, 'goat's leap' in Kannada language. The river Kaveri flows through a deep gorge so narrow that one would imagine that a goat can leap across it.

Somanathapura: An ideal weekend getaway located at a distance of 175 km from Bangalore. The traditional temple dedicated to Lord Keshava is without doubt one of the finest examples of Hoysala architecture and is in a very well preserved condition. The temple is in the care of the Archeological Survey of India as a protected heritage site.

Hogenakkal Falls: is located at a distance of 180 km from Bangalore in the Dharmapuri district of Tamilnadu state. This waterfalls is usually known as the "Niagara of India". When the water falls over the rocks it appears as if smoke (hoge in Kannada) is emanating from the top of the rock (kal in Kannada) because of the force of the water, hence Hogenakkal.

Kotilingeshwara: is situated in Kammasandra Village in Kolar district. The Kotilingeshwara temple is about 100 km from Bangalore and 6 km from KGF. This place is one of the ideal weekend getaway destinations of Bangalore. The Karnataka state government has declared this temple as a tourist spot so that devotees and pilgrims from all around the world can witness the 108-foot-tall Linga and 35 tall Feet Nandi surrounded by lakhs of small shivalingas spread over an area of 15 acres. Up to now, around 86 lakh shivalingas are installed here.

Sravanabelagola: is certainly one of the most important Jain pilgrim centers located at a distance of 160 km from Bangalore in Hassan district. There are two hills, Chandragiri (Chikkabetta) and Vindyagiri. The main attraction of Shravanabelagola is a 57 feet huge statue of the Bhagavan Bahubali or Gomateshwara placed on the Vindyagiri hill. Every twelve years, a large number of devotees gather here to carry out the Mahamastakabhisheka, a spectacular ceremony in which the statue is covered with milk, Curds, Ghee, Saffron, Sandal paste and gold coins.
