Pavilion and BEML are its two ends and the ground has a capacity of 40,000. From Viv Richards’ rather ordinary debut and Gordon Greenidge’s sensational century on debut in its inaugural Test match in 1974, the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium has witnessed some very exciting cricket. One of the masterpieces it played host to was the one produced by the legendary Sunil Gavaskar, where India lost to Pakistan in the series decider in 1987. The stadium was only half-built then. It is home to legends of Indian cricket like GR Viswanath, Erapalli Prasanna, Syed Kirmani and more recently Anil Kumble. The stadium will always be remembered for the thrilling India-Pakistan quarter-final in the 1996 ICC Cricket World Cup – which also marked the installation of floodlights for the first time.One of India’s regular Test venues, the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium has also housed India’s National Cricket Academy since 2000 and is home to the Karnataka cricket team. Bengaluru has been a popular cricketing venue and most countries in the world love playing at this ground. Michael Clarke's wonderful century on debut, Inzamam's ton in his 100th Test, Anil Kumble's 400th Test wicket are just some of the highlights of this ground.

The stadium was known as the Karnataka State Cricket Association Stadium before being re-named as Chinnaswamy stadium. Initially the stadium was used for the First-class cricket matches but as the time passed by the stadium even started conducting other major cricket events. The stadium was also the podium for famous cricketing legends like Godon Greenidge and Viv Richards. It has been a stadium that has been conducting events like World Cups, Test Tours and even the newly introduced concept of the IPL. The stadium in association with the BCCI was chosen as the center for National Cricket Academy to provide training to the promising stars of the future. It is the home ground for the Karnataka state cricket team that plays all their matches in the stadium. The reputed IPL team Royal Challenger also plays all their home matches in this Bangalore cricket stadium.

By Air :
