In 1905, when the cross from the old tower of the church fell, it was interpreted as a sign to build a new structure. Father Servanton raised funds for the new edifice which was opened in 1932. The St. Francis Xavier's Cathedral Church is located at Cleceland Town, St Johns Road, Cleveland Town, Bangalore.Fr. Chevalier was the first Parish Priest. He built the first Church of St. Francis Xavier in 1851, on a site measuring 550 feet squareThe St. Francis Xavier's Cathedral is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bangalore and was initially also the diocese of Mysore from 1886 to 1940. The first church was constructed in 1851 but due to the huge increase in the catholic population, this church eventually became inadequate and hence in 1911, the foundation stone was laid for a new church. In the year 2009 the church celebrated its platinum jubilee. Located in Frazer Town this church sees a huge crowd during the Christmas celebrations.
