Government Musium is Located at Kasturba Road Near Cubbon Park in Bangalore.Government Musium is Known as State Archaeological Museum.This musium is very oldest musium of India.This musium is Established 1865 by Colonel Sankey and opened by 1886 for public.The main building of this museum was designed by Colonel Sankey. This building, spread across two floors, is divided into eighteen galleries comprising of different sections like geology, history, art, sculpture etc. This museum is best known for its amazing collection of ancient coins belonging to the historical Indus Valley Civilization that is especially of great interest to the numismatics.This museum is regularly visited by tourists from all over the state government globe.In popular Museum, Bangalore, visitors have found some rare art works and beautiful belonging to ancient times.The musium has 18 galleries including Neolithic findings from the Chandravalli excavations and from the Indus valley, especially Mohanjedaro antiquities. As the museum displays a huge collection of archeological artifacts, it is also known as State Archeological Museum. The museum also houses a unique collection of scuptures, inscriptions, paintings, icons, antique jewellery, textiles, coins, miniature paintings etc.The museum boasts of a rare collection of ancient coins that belong to the Indus Valley Civilization. It also houses the Halmidi inscriptions, the earliest Kannada inscription belonging to 450 AD.

The Venkatappa art Gallery located in the second building of Musium.The venkatappa Art Gallery is named in honor of the popular artist Venkatappa.K.Venkatappa ,born in 1887 to a femily of cort painters;Venkatappa was also a musician.In addition to this, the gallery has stone sculptures from the Mathura and Khajurao Schools of Art.Venkatappa Art Gallery, Bangalore, visitors can see about 600 paintings by different artists of renown. The ground floor of the museum, you will meet beautiful paintings of the famous painter K. Venkatappa. Works by famous painter is generally based on characters. Some of his popular paintings for Nilgiri Mountain, kodaikanal, Sunrise in Ooty, a painting on Monsoon and other paintings. Venkatappa Art Gallery, Bangalore also feature works of leading artists like MF Hussain, NS Bendre, Vasudev, hanumaiah, hariram, Rekha Rao, and Yusuf Arakkal and other contemporary painters.
