Dodda Ganesha Temple  is the most famous  temple in Bangalore. Dedicated to Lord Ganesha, this 16th century temple is located in the heart of Bengaluru (Karnataka) and is known as the Dodda Ganapathi Temple.The temple is located in Bull Temple Road, next to Big Bull Temple, which is another religious attraction in Bangalore.

The temple is located in Bull Temple Road, next to Big Bull Temple, which is another religious attraction in Bangalore. The idol of lord ganesh in this temple is covered in cream paint with golden lace and buttons on it. One of the most famous decorations of lord ganesha idol is the butter coating. Over 100 Kgs of butter is needed for to apply to the idol of Dodda Ganesha Temple.

A story behind the construction of the temple is Kempe Gowda once found a big rock which is looking like Lord Ganesha so he order to build this temple. Dodda Ganesha Temple at Basavanagudi was constructed by Kempegowda One. Ganapathi idol in this temple is about 18ft height and 16ft width is one of the biggest idol in Karnataka state. The Ganesha idol is huge but inspires awe only when it’s full decorated during some puja or festival.
