The Vidhana Soudha is Located Ambedkar Veedhi, Sampangi, Rama Nagar, Bengalure city Karnataka..The Vidhana Soudha is the biggest Legislative building in India. The Vidhana Soudha is an impressive building and is known for its grand architecture and is a popular tourist attraction in Bangalore.Though Kengal Hanumanthaiah is highly praised for the conception and building of the Vidhana Soudha, a building idea to accommodate the secretariat as well as legislature was actually intended and decided upon by cabinet of K C Reddy which was just referred to as House of Legislature. The foundation was laid on July 13, 1951 by Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India. But it was Kengal Hanumanthaiah who was mastermind in the revamp as well as speedy construction of Vidhana Soudha. For this, Kengal Hanumanthaiah visited Russia, Europe, United States & many places and got the concept of building Vidhana Soudha by incorporating a variety of styles from the structures he had viewed.Vidhana Soudha was completed in the year 1956. The chief engineer of Vidhan Soudha, B.R. Manickam mainly made use of granite to achieve the structure constructed. The Vidhana Soudha is constructed mainly with "Bangalore Granite", excavated in the areas around Mallasandra as well as Hessaraghatta. To impress visually, "Magadi pink" along with "Turuvekere black" stones has also been used. The total cost for this project was Rs 1.75 crore.
Till the advent of digital cameras and camera-fitted mobile phones,
Vidhana Soudha was the bread and butter for more than a hundred
freelance photographers who would capture images of tourists with the
massive building as the backdrop. The profile of the frontal portion of
Vidhana Soudha will witness a temporary transformation with underground
work on the Metro project all set to commence. However, the mammoth
structure with the catch line “Government’s work is God’s work” will
continue to wow many and make them wonder how it was built. The building is illuminated on Sundays and public holidays.

One of the interesting feature of this building in grand stairs in its front. The grand stairs has a flight of forty-five steps 204 feet wide 70 feet deep giving a direct access to the foyer of first floor leading to an Assembly Chamber. The architecture of the building is based on Dravidian style, comprising richly carved bases and capitals for pillars, deep friezes, kapotha cornices, chaithya arches, heavy pediments domical finials, etc; At the same time, the construction has been on modern designs, making use of the present-day materials like steel, reinforced cement concrete glass, plastic, etc
