The Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium is a part of Ameging Attcrecation of  bangalore City.The museum was founded by Bangalore City Corporation in 1989, in order to pay tribute and homage to Pandit Jawaharlal Neheru’s birth centenary. The Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium is located at Sri T. Chowdaiah Road, High Grounds, Near Raj Bhavan,Bangalore Karnataka.In India there are five planetariums named after the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru Plantariums are located in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore and there is a Jawahar Planetarium in Allahabad. Nehru Planetarium in Pune was the first one in Asia, established in 1954. The Planetarium gives the opportunity to tourists on vacations in Bangalore to unravel the mysteries of outer space.The planetarium does not only create awareness among the students, but also educated the general public regarding the subject of Astronomy.The planetarium aims at disseminating knowledge regarding science and solar system.The Bangalore Association for Science Education (BASE) was entrusted the responsibility to look after the administration.There are sky-theatre shows, science exhibitions and lectures and workshops for science teacher available in Planetarium Bangalore.The popular event at the planetarium is Sky Theater Shows which gets viewed by more than 2 lakhs visitors every year. 

Sky Theatre

The Sky theatre, located inside the planetarium is one of the major tourist attractions. With a seating capacity of 225 people, it acts as a venue for the shows conducted here. It has a 15 meters wide dome. The timings of the astronomy show are from 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm. The shows conducted here are of high visual quality and offer their audience with important information on astronomy. This show attracts more than 2 lakh visitors per year and it is a perfect blend of art, culture and literature of different countries. This program has a lot of variety and it is based on historical backgrounds, modern developments and about future prospects. A lot of special effect is used which includes visual effects, animation, video programs and a lot more. Every people can visit it on all the weekdays except Monday.

Science Exhibitions 

The Science Exhibitions that has been developed around the planetarium displays various elements of science and offers an innate environment for learning and outdoor games. Some of the models that you may see here include DNA helix model, sound resonant swings, whispering dishes, sun dial for time, giant kaleidoscope, and a model of a polar satellite launching vehicle of PSLV. 
One of the aspects worth mentionable in this exhibition hall is the weighing machine, which shows your personalized body weight at different planets. This activity is fun as well as exciting. There is a book stall at the exhibition hall, from where you can buy books of various types, at an affordable price. You can also get hold of telescopes, models, astro photos etc. 

Other Activities 

Another activity held at the planetarium is Know Your Stars which will be conducted on first Sunday of every month. All visitors for the event will be provided with the start sheets and will be guided how to use.
Bangalore Association for Science Education (BASE) also conducts Science Exhibitions, Lectures and Workshops for Science teachers and students.
